Woman hit and killed by truck on Monash Freeway in Melbourne
Melbourne’s Monash Freeway has been thrown into chaos this morning after two fatal crashes, including one where a woman was hit by a truck.
Two separate fatal collisions have thrown one of Melbourne’s busiest freeways into chaos this morning.
One of the collisions involved a woman being hit by a truck along Monash Freeway, in Glen Iris, with emergency services rushing to the scene just after 8am this morning.
Investigators have been told the woman was driving a car and pulled over on the freeway, near Darling St before getting out of her vehicle.
She was then struck by a truck that was travelling outbound and tragically died at the scene.
The woman is yet to be formally identified.
“The driver of the truck stopped shortly after and is assisting police with their enquiries,” Victoria Police said.
“Police are yet to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.”
Monash Freeway has been closed outbound between High Street and Warrigal Road while police process the scene.

Motorists are advised to exit the freeway and use Dandenong Road instead and re-join the Monash from Warrigal Road.
Traffic is quickly banking up, with drivers warned to allow plenty of extra travel time and to avoid the area if possible.
Inbound traffic on the freeway is also being impacted due to another fatal collision at Doveston involving a motorbike rider.
Emergency services were called to the Monash Freeway near Heatherton Road at 7.50am following reports a motorbike had struck a pole.
“The rider, who is yet to be formally identified, was treated by first responders but sadly died at the scene,” Victoria Police said.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are being investigated.
The Heatherton Road inbound exit ramp is also closed and police are on the scene directing traffic.
Anyone who witnessed either crash, has dashcam footage or further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers in 1800 333 000.
