Two women die in crash near Horsham in western Victoria

Two women have been killed after a semi-trailer pushed one of their cars into oncoming traffic in western Victoria.

Two women have been killed after a semi-trailer pushed one of their cars into oncoming traffic on a highway in western Victoria.

A man is also fighting for life in hospital following the crash near Horsham about 12.20pm.

The crash unfolded when a semi-trailer crashed into the back of a car turning into a rest stop on the Western Highway at Laharum.

The car was pushed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle head-on.

A female driver, 71, of Horsham and a 42-year-old passenger in the second vehicle, died at the scene.

A driver of the second vehicle, a 36-year-old man from Black Range, was flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver, a 48-year-old Dartmoor man, was not injured.

He was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries.
