‘Total shock’: Doyne Caspersz and wife Marlene revealed as elderly couple found dead in Melbourne home
Details have emerged after a couple’s bodies were found at their home on a ‘Millionaires’ Row’ - with mystery surrounding their deaths.
The identities of the elderly couple found dead at their home in an upmarket suburb known for its mansions have been revealed.
Doyne and Marlene Caspersz were found at their Antigoni Court double-storey home in Warrandyte, north-eadt of Melbourne, around 9.30am, the Herald Sun reported.
One of the couple were found dead in their car, the newspaper reported.
It’s believed they were aged in their 70s and 80s.
Police said they would await the results of a post-mortem to determine the causes of their respective deaths. Their deaths are currently not being treated as suspicious.
Neighbours told reporters they had seen the pair going about their days as normal on Sunday and Monday.
Neighbour Don Savoria said Mr Caspersz, an active member of Melbourne’s Sri Lankan community, was always eager to lend a helping hand.
“We were very good friends — if he needed something, he’d call me,” he told the publication.
“If he couldn’t start his ride-on mower, I’d go over and help him out; that’s what neighbours do.
“If I needed something, I’d call on him.
“I know that his son didn’t want him to do any gardening because of his age, but mainly because he wanted (Mr Caspersz) to look after his mum (Marlene) because she wasn’t well.”
Australian Burgher Association president Hermann Loos said he was in total shock at Mr Caspersz and his wife’s death.
“He did a lot for us,” he said,
“I just cannot believe it, for them to both go at the same time is an impossibility.”
