Strathmerton crash: three dead in horror collision

Police and emergency services are at the scene of a horror crash in northern Victoria that has left three people dead.

Three people have been killed in a catastrophic collision between two cars and a truck in northern Victoria.

Victoria Police said the accident occurred at the intersection of the Murray Valley Hwy and Labuan Rd, in the town of Strathmerton, about 2.30pm.

“Three people, who are yet to be formally identified, have died at the scene,” police said in a statement.

They said three others had been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Ambulance Victoria told NCA NewsWire paramedics were called shortly before 2.30pm on Thursday, with three people transferred to Goulburn Valley Health.

They did not comment on their condition.

A spokesperson for the Country Fire Authority told NCA NewsWire that CFA units from Strathmerton and Yarroweyah were called to an incident in Strathmerton shortly before 2.30pm.

The spokesperson said the scene was declared “safe” shortly after 3.40pm.

A spokesperson for the Victorian State Emergency Service said volunteers had attended at the request of Victoria Police and assisted with the preservation of the scene of a traffic incident.

The cause of the collision is yet to be determined and Major Collision investigation detectives are en route.
