Professional boxer Sam Abdulrahim survives second shooting in Melbourne

Police are investigating whether two car fires are linked to shots being fired at the former Mongols bikie as he was leaving his home.

Police are investigating links between two car fires and an attempted early morning shooting where professional boxer Suleiman “Sam” Abdulrahim was allegedly the intended victim.

The incident unfolded doutside a home in Larch St home in Thomastown, in Melbourne’s north at 3.15am on Friday.

Abdulrahim, 32, had been leaving the property when several shots were fired.

The former Mongols bikie, who also goes by the nickname “The Punisher”, escaped injury.

“Police are working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and investigations are ongoing,” police said.

Emergency services were also called to Barrow St in Brunswick about 3am, after reports two vehicles had been set alight.

Police believe both incidents were targeted and the investigation continues.

The alleged offenders remain at large.

Abdulrahim has been targeted previously, he was shot five times in the chest a stomach at Fawkner Cemetery on June 25, 2022.

His Mercedes four-wheel-drive was sprayed by bullets as he was leaving his cousin’s funeral.

He made a full recovery and returned to boxing in May, 2023.

Victorian police told a court in June, 2023, they believed Abdulrahim had been the intended target of three separate shootings.
