Police arrest man, 41, after woman’s body found in Melbourne unit block
Police are investigating the ‘suspicious’ death of a woman whose body was found inside a Melbourne apartment building on Saturday night.
Police have arrested a man after the death of a woman whose body was discovered inside an inner Melbourne apartment building.
Homicide detectives scoured the scene in South Yarra after the body was found in the Surrey Road complex about 9pm on Saturday night.
The woman has now been identified as a 63-year-old, and her death is being investigated as a homicide.
“Investigators have arrested a 41-year-old South Yarra man who is currently assisting with inquiries,” police said in a statement.
The man was led away from the building in handcuffs and barefooted at about 12.15pm on Sunday.
The Herald Sun reports neighbours discovered the body in a stairwell and called triple-0.
One witness described the grim find as a “horror scene”.
