A nurse from Melbourne suffered horrific injuries when she was mauled by a dog – the second serious dog attack in 24 hours

A Melbourne woman had her ear ripped off in a vicious dog attack in the city’s east.

It’s the second dog mauling in 24 hours after a six-year-old girl was set upon in Queensland on Monday.

The women, a nurse in her sixties, was attacked by a 50kg bull Arab cross in the suburb of Bulleen at around 5.15pm on Sunday.

The dog, one of three in the Manningham Road property, ran past an unlocked gate and then pounced, dragging the woman into the busy road.

“It had blood all over its mouth and I heard this lady going ‘help me, help me, please help me,” passer-by Nick Carter told Channel 9 News.

The frenzied attack saw the woman lose most of an ear, suffer a large cut to her neck as well as bit wounds and scratches.

The woman who owned the dog apologised for what she called a “heartbreaking” attack.

“I’m so sorry like for the lady and know there’s nothing that I can say that’s going to make it better for her,” she told Channel 9 anonymously.

“It’s heartbreaking.”

“I understands what his fate will be for the safety of everybody,” said the owner.

Police have said they will investigate whether a criminal act occurred.

The victim remains in as table condition ta the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

A young girl was attacked by a dog in a town south of Brisbane on Monday.

The girl from Woodbridge, around 25km south of Brisbane’s CBD, was left in a serious condition after the dog dragged her into a yard.

A person aged in their twenties was also treated by paramedics and taken to Queensland Elizabeth Hospital with a leg injury after the attack.

It’s believed they were attempting to help the child when they suffered the injuries.

Dog handlers from the council were seen arriving at the scene and removing the dog.
