Magnitude 3.0 earthquake rattles regional Victoria

A 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck on Saturday morning, with over 100 Aussies reporting the rumble.

An earthquake has rattled Victoria on Saturday morning with over 100 people reporting feeling the event.

The Seismology Research Centre said the 3.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Lerderderg State Park, northwest of Melbourne at about 10.45am.

A magnitude 1.6 aftershock followed the initial quake, the centre added.

According to Geoscience Australia, the 3.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded at a depth of 1km.

By Saturday afternoon, over 120 people had reported feeling the earthquake, including as far away as Mornington.

It was the fourth earthquake recorded in Australia in two weeks, including a 4.2 earthquake at Muswellbrook in the NSW Hunter Region on Tuesday.

The Victorian SES said it was not anticipating any damage.
