Coronavirus: Victorian man in his 40s dies overnight from COVID-19
Ten people died overnight from COVID-19 in Victoria’s deadliest day yet. One of them was a man in his 40s.
A Victorian man as young as 40 has died from the deadly coronavirus sweeping through the state.
Victoria has recorded 459 new COVID-19 cases and 10 new virus-related deaths overnight, making it the state’s deadliest day since the pandemic began.
The state’s death toll now stands at 71, with seven men and three woman dying from coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
The age of the men range from 40s to 80s and the age of the women ranged from 70s to 80s.
Of the new fatalities, seven are linked to aged care outbreaks and three are not linked to an outbreak.

“There are 10 families that are going to be burying someone in the next few days,” Premier Daniel Andrews said.
“We, of course, send our condolences and best wishes to those families.
“This will be a terribly difficult time for them, and they are in our thoughts.”
The man in his 40s who died last night is one of the youngest Australians to pass away because of the virus.
In April, a 42-year-old man in Perth died from COVID-19, believed to be Australia’s youngest case.
Previously, it was believed 30-year-old Queensland man Nathan Turner was Australia’s youngest coronavirus fatality.
However, it has since come to light that Mr Turner died of another health complication, not COVID-19.

The coronavirus doesn’t discriminate against age, experts have warned.
“Regardless of our age, our gender, our postcode, our income level, whether we pray or we don‘t pray, none of those things matter,” Dan Andrews. “We’re all in this together.”
Victoria’s total number of cases now stands at 8881.
Of those, 228 people in hospital and 42 of those in intensive care.
The country’s national death toll is 155 — so Victoria makes up nearly half of that.
