A primary school in Melbourne was placed into lockdown this morning following a reported stabbing of a student.

A primary school in Melbourne was placed into lockdown this morning following a reported stabbing.

The incident is believed to have occurred at Brentwood Park Primary School in Berwick in the city’s southeast at around 9am.

Emergency services arrived to find a boy who had been stabbed on school grounds.

Paramedics treated him for non-life-threatening injuries.

A woman also sustained minor injuries.

An email sent to parents and guardians reportedly explained that students were placed into a short lockdown as a precaution.

The school confirmed that the lockdown had now ended and that all students and staff were safe.

The police investigation remains ongoing.
