KAREN Ristevski’s husband will not make a fresh appeal for his missing wife and has been urged by police not to talk about the case.
KAREN Ristevski’s husband will not make a fresh appeal for his missing wife.
The Herald Sun reports Borce Ristevski has been encouraged by police not to talk publicly about the mysterious disappearance of Mrs Ristevski, who was last seen about five weeks ago.
“The police have told me not to talk about the case,” he said.
Police however told the Herald Sun they did not stop people from talking to the media.
Mrs Ristevski left the family mansion in Avondale Heights in Melbourne’s northwest on June 29 after a heated discussion with her husband about financial matters and she has not been seen since.
Security cameras at the home did not capture Mrs Ristevski walking out of the house the day she went missing, but Mr Ristevski told the Herald Sun they had not been working for about six months.
Mrs Ristevski took her purse and handbag when she left the home to cool off but neighbours did not see the woman leave on their CCTV footage and a neighbour believed the disappearance was strange.
Police have conducted searches at the Canning Reserve along the Maribyrnong River behind her home.
“Why would you go for a walk along the valley with your handbag and purse?” the neighbour said to the Herald Sun.
Mr Ristevski was previously questioned by police over the disappearance of his wife and was released pending further inquiries.
He is assisting police with their investigations and there is no suggestion he was involved.
He’s made a number of appeals for his wife alongside the couple’s 21-year-old daughter Sarah, and last month a Channel 7 reporter asked Mr Ristevski if he killed his wife.
Mrs Ristevski’s aunt Patricia, who was also appealing for information, was distressed and told the reporter it was not appropriate.
There was another twist in the case when Mrs Ristevski’s stepson Anthony Rickard spoke out.
He is struggling with an ice addiction and was also questioned by police but he told the Herald Sun he didn’t have anything to do with her disappearance despite a family dispute.
He made claims Mrs Ristevski was planning to leave her husband.
The Ristevkis own two fashion boutiques, Bella Bleu, and The Australian reported last month one of the boutiques in Broadmeadows, in Melbourne’s North, was contributing to financial problems.
It was reported real estate group Vicinity and financial company Perpetual lodged a caveat over the Ristevskis’ home, meaning it can’t be sold or transferred into another name.
Police are still treating the disappearance as a missing persons case but said it would be harder to treat it as such as more time passed.
Mrs Ristevski is 160cm tall, with a slim build and shoulder length brown hair.
She was last seen wearing a black jacket and jeans and is known to frequent Taylors Lakes, in Melbourne’s northwest.
