Body of teenage girl found in Melbourne home overnight

Police have launched an investigation after the body of a teenage girl was found at a home in Melbourne’s southwest overnight.

A man is in custody after teenage girl was found dead at a home in Melbourne’s southeast overnight.

Police were called to a home on Brookside Dr, Wyndham Vale, at about 10.30pm last night.

When they arrived they found the body of a 16-year-old girl at the property.

A 19-year-old man, who was at the property when officers arrived, was arrested and remains in custody assisting police with their inquiries.

“The exact circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be established and police will await results of a post mortem,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

Police are investigating the incident.
