Rihannon Caspersz is still living in a single bedroom with her three kids two months after fleeing a dilapidated rental home in Melbourne’s North.

The 34-year-old moved out of the Badger’s Creek property in May along with her three-year-old twin daughters and seven-month old infant.

The family of four now living in a single room at her parents’ house in the city’s south east, with no clear prospect of finding their own home.

“It’s not a very big house for three adults and some kids,” Ms Caspersz said.

“We’ve just had to cram in, move some stuff around and what my parents are paying here as well … it’s not worth what they’re paying.

“I try not to show my girls, they’re only young thank goodness, but I don’t want to tell them that mum’s stressing trying to find a place.”

Receiving Centrelink payments as a single mother, she is restricted to a budget of $360 a week and hopes to eventually find a three-bedroom home for her and her kids.

But after being knocked back on more than 60 rentals, Ms Caspersz said she was losing the energy to continue going to inspections.

“I’ve been looking for rentals, but keep getting knocked back … it’s not the best what we’re going through at the moment, but my parents are pretty accommodating,” she said.

“Everything’s just going up.””
