“You give me one more bid, I’ll call Liam Neeson for you”. A Melbourne house that Hollywood actor Liam Neeson reprised his role in Taken to help promote has had a thrilling conclusion.
A Mulgrave house that movie star Liam Neeson helped to promote has been ‘Taken’ by a new owner who paid $1.332m for the glamorous pad.
The Academy Award-nominated actor did a voiceover for 34 Gertrude St’s online listing video, a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the blockbuster film franchise in which he starred.
The home’s owners, Dean Fay and wife Sonia, along with their two daughters, are friends with Neeson’s family.

An assistant director who has worked on several high-profile gigs, Mr Fay was part of the team who put together the 2022 movie Blacklight in which Neeson appeared.
Mr Fay also collaborated on the Stan film One More Shot starring Emily Browning, Netflix’s Apple Cider Vinegar series based on cancer fraudster Belle Gibson’s real-life story and the ABC series Gold Diggers with Danielle Walker and Eddie Perfect.
And Mr Fay and Sonia’s daughter Lucy, a university student who works freelance behind the scenes in movies and TV, has worked on some of Neeson’s projects.
Neeson was in Victoria filming the action-thriller The Mongoose when he recorded the voiceover for the house’s promo clip, with Lucy also assisting on the home’s video.
BigginScott Glen Waverley director Ming Xu and fellow listing agent Jing Chen appeared in the reel, which shows Mr Xu getting a series of phone calls from Neeson – who is rather intent on finding the house, even though he does not know the address.
Mr Fay previously told the Herald Sun that he and Sonia decided sell their four-bedroom abode, where they had lived for 12 years, in order to move closer to their daughters’ education.
The residence features an outdoor pool and deck, solar panels and an open-plan kitchen, meals and family area.
When the abode went under the hammer on Saturday, it went gangbusters.
There were at least four bidders who competed for the keys in a marathon auction that lasted about 35 minutes.
At one stage, Mr Xu joked, “You give me one more bid, I’ll call Liam Neeson for you.”
Mr Xu declined to comment on the price but the public auction ended with the house selling for $1.332m.
The buyer, from regional Victoria, is planning to move in with his young family.
Having Neeson lend his voice to the promo clip intrigued plenty of buyers, Mr Xu added.
“I think lots of people mentioned it to me when we had open for inspections and would ask if Liam was there,” he said.
