A MAN has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body in a suburban creek.

A man’s body was found by a passer-by in Kororoit Creek, near Glengala Rd in Sunshine about 9am yesterday.

Homicide detectives arrested a 32-year-old man of no fixed address.

He was charged with murder this morning and is due to face Melbourne Magistrate’s Court today.

A post mortem was due to be completed late last night or this morning.

Homicide squad Detective Inspector Mick Hughes said it was believed an altercation at about 6am occurred close to where the body was found just after 9am.

Forensic experts spent hours examining the scene, a park area with a cycling and walking path bound by Glengala and Anderson roads.

They focused on a small heavily grassed section and placed markers tracing a path up the creek bank.

Officers also focused on a home backing on to the creek which was fitted with CCTV.
