Man dies, woman rescued in Yarra River canoe accident
A man has died and a woman has been rescued from the Yarra River after a mysterious canoe accident in the middle of the night.
A man is dead and a woman has been rescued from the Yarra River after an early morning canoeing accident in Melbourne’s inner east.
The pair are believed to have got into trouble at Dights Falls in Abbotsford early on Wednesday.
Police and SES responded to reports of an overturned a row boat in rapid waters about 1.30am.
A 46-year-old woman from Upwey was carried to safety and assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital for observation.
However, the body of a man was retrieved from the water and police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
He has not been formally identified and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined.
