Hollywood actor Liam Neeson stars in Mulgrave house listing video
Hollywood heavyweight Liam Neeson has taken a leading role in a Melbourne home video. And the movie star has a surprising reason for helping out his Australian friends.
Movie star Liam Neeson is using his very particular set of skills to help promote a house for sale in Melbourne’s south east.
The Academy Award-nominated actor has starred in films including Schindler’s List, Love Actually, Gangs of New York, Batman Begins and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Neeson, who reportedly earns millions of dollars per Hollywood film, only asked for a small favour in return for his involvement in 34 Gertrude St, Mulgrave’s online listing video.

Dean has been as an assistant director on several film and television projects including the 2022 American-Australian action thriller movie Blacklight in which Neeson appeared.
In addition, Dean and Sonia’s daughter Lucy, a university student who works freelance behind the scenes in films and television, has worked on some of Neeson’s projects.
Dean said he and Sonia had decided had sell their four-bedroom house, where they have lived for 12 years, in order to move closer to family and their daughters’ education.
When BigginScott Glen Waverley director Ming Xu suggested making a video to showcase the house, Dean said he would “make some calls”.
He contacted Neeson, who is currently in Victoria to film the action-thriller The Mongoose.
And while the Irish-born actor’s rehearsal schedule was too busy for him to appear in the real estate video in-person, he was happy to lend his voice to the clip.
Dean pulled together a script as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Neeson’s blockbuster Taken movie franchise.

“I sent him a little script and he said he had made a couple of little changes.” Dean said.
Neeson recorded his voiceover and sent it to Lucy, who helped to co-ordinate the entire process, acting as the video’s unofficial casting agent.
The Mulgrave abode’s clip, which the Wind Up Media group also worked on, opens with Mr Xu sitting at the house when Neeson rings him to request a video of the residence.
“So, you better be quick or the otherwise this home will be taken,” Mr Xu replies.
In a later scene, Mr Xu is sitting in the pool when fellow listing agent Jing Chen approaches to say Neeson has arrived.
During another phone call, Mr Xu say to Neeson, “I didn’t give you the address” – to which Neeson replies: “I told you I’d find you”.
Dean said he thought that adding Neeson’s voice to the video would be a quirky and fun touch.
“Not many actors would do that for a buddy at the end of the day,” Dean said.
“He’s a very generous guy.”
Neeson did the voiceover as a gesture in return for Sonia delivering him berries, to include in his breakfast yoghurts, on an ongoing basis when he is in town to shoot films.
“We might even invite him over for an Italian meal if he has time while filming,” Dean said.
Apart from Blacklight, Dean has worked on films including Netflix’s Run Rabbit Run starring Sarah Snook, Mr Nice Guy with Jackie Chan and Stan’s Windcatcher Stan starring Jessica Mauboy and Pia Miranda.
He was part of the team who filmed the series Apple Cider Vinegar, based on the real-life story of Australian cancer fraudster Belle Gibson, that is now airing on Netflix.
Dean just wrapped up filming the sci-fi action thriller War Machine starring Jack Reacher’s Alan Ritchson and is now working on a streaming show titled Granite.
His other projects include the romantic comedy One More Shot starring Emily Browning, the ABC drama Fires, the NBC series La Brea, the mini series Chopper: The Untold Story, Underbelly television movies and TV’s House Husbands.
Dean and Sonia have listed their four-bedroom house with a $1.3m-$1.4m asking range.
The open-plan kitchen, meals and family area features recessed speakers, stone benchtops, glass splashbacks, 900mm Smeg appliances, an integrated fridge and freezer, a Bosch dishwasher, a walk-in pantry and an island bench with a breakfast table at the end.
Glass doors open to a covered outdoor deck and an in-ground pool with an electric heat pump and paved surrounds.
Dean and his family enjoy spending time by the pool, having barbecues with friends in summer.
“In winter, we have a fire pit outside around the site, it’s a great house for entertaining,” he said.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and study or fourth bedroom.
The main bedroom has built-in wardrobes and a twin vanity ensuite, showcasing a rainfall shower and toilet.
Other features including a family bathroom, downstairs powder room and laundry, ducted heating, refrigerated airconditioning, 7.42Kw solar panels with battery and a water tank
Dean said the bathrooms had been upgraded and the house freshly painted.
He said the quiet neighbourhood was close to several schools and parks, Waverley Park Stadium and Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre.
BigginScott Glen Waverley director Ming Xu said that while the home stood out with a pool, he expected the Neeson connection would catch much broader attention.
“There’s a mix of possible buyers, from first-home buyers and others wanting to get into the area – we are also seeing buyers coming from other suburbs looking for a low maintenance lifestyle,” Mr Xu said.
He added that the renovated home was also likely to appeal to buyers who were looking for a home with no work needing to be done to it at a time when many homes in need of an update were not gaining as much attention.
The house will be auctioned at 10am on March 1.
