AN earthquake has shook homes in Gippsland jolting residents from their sleep.

The magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck near Foster, about 6.40am.

Residents in nearby Mirboo North have reported their houses and beds shaking.

Caller Paul told 3AW his house rattled.

“It woke me up out of bed, I heard the wardrobe cupboards rattle,” he said.

Another caller Alan, who lives near Churchill, also felt the quake.

“At 6.40am this morning the house shook and rattled and woke both my wife and I up,” he said.

There is no tsunami threat.
