Woman shot at her home in Melbourne's Glenroy

A MOTHER has been shot in the chest in a home in Melbourne and a man who says he’s her partner may know who did it.

The 50-year-old woman was taken in a critical condition to the Royal Melbourne Hospital after reports of gunfire at a Glenroy house, in Melbourne’s north, just before midnight on Thursday.

A man who identified himself as the victim’s partner arrived at the house on Friday with their sons and told reporters he believed he knew who shot her, 3AW reported.

The family members arrived at the house about 6.30am but weren’t allowed inside.

Nine News reports the woman’s partner had a confrontation with police as he tried to get past police tape.

“Don’t touch me! You can ask but don’t touch,” he said as he was told to get back.

The woman’s sons were in shock.

“It’s very surreal, very surreal,” one son told the Herald Sun.

“I’m still lost for emotions and lost for words.”

The woman is in a stable but critical condition.
