A shocking suspected murder-suicide has struck a small regional town, leaving a mum-of-five dead.
A brutal suspected murder-suicide has hit a small town in regional Victoria, leaving a mother to five children dead.
Neighbours of a street in the small Ballarat suburb of Sebastopol say they witnessed a “volatile relationship” between mum Rebecca Young, 42, and alleged Bandidos gang member Ian Butler, 55, before the sudden deaths of the pair on Friday night.
Victoria Police confirmed homicide officers were called to the house of Morgan Street about 9pm and found Ms Young and Mr Butler both dead at the address.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is yet to be determined at this stage, however detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the matter,” police said on Saturday.
“Police also believe the parties involved were known to each other.”
Neighbours told Nine News the couple were in a “volatile relationship” and heard arguments between the two before the deaths.
“I got a real shock,” neighbour Valmai Ashmore said after the event.
“Couple of my friends rang me to see if I was OK, that something had happened in Morgan Street.”
Neighbours also report hearing Ms Young parents’ screaming in pain at the address.
It is understood Ms Young had moved into the address six months earlier.
