Tradie stabbed in gang attack at Werribee station in Melbourne
The tradie, who nearly lost his life, was attacked by at least 10 teenagers, it is believed.
A young tradie has been violently stabbed in a random attack at a train station in Melbourne’s west.
Tomas Petzler, 22, stepped off the train at Werribee station about 3pm after work on Tuesday when he accidentally bumped into a teenage boy in a crowd.
At least 10 teenage boys then lunged at him, knocking him to the ground as onlookers rushed to help, theHerald Sun reported.
“I was walking past them, and I accidentally bumped into one of them, and then it all started from there,” Mr Petzler said.
“There were at least 10 of them.
“I called up into a ball and they were all just kicking me and punching me, and there were people trying to stop it and yelling and trying to break it up.”
Mr Petzler looked down to see his shirt covered in blood, and it dawned on him, he had been stabbed.
The young tradie feared he was going to die as he was rushed to hospital by paramedics.
“In the ambulance, I kept thinking I was going to die,” he said.
One of the stab wounds punctured his lung. He also suffered two stab wounds to his back.
Doctors told the young man if the wounds had been any closer to his spine, he could have been paralysed.
A second boy who also suffered a stab wound is believed to be one of the offenders.
