A TEENAGE driver has allegedly driven directly at police and led officers on a wild car chase through Melbourne’s south east overnight.
Police say a stolen Ford Territory was seen driving erratically about 8.20pm last night on the Princes Freeway in Berwick.
Members of the public reported the same car was driving on the wrong side of the road in Hallam Road, Hallam, causing near misses with other cars.
The Ford was then seen at the on-ramp from the Princes Highway to the Monash Freeway, Doveton, where police say it performed an illegal U-turn, causing cars to swerve to avoid a crash.
The car was seen again around 11.45pm in Maryn Close, Berwick.
Officers tried to cordon off the street but the car allegedly drove directly at police, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
Police say the driver then drove at them again in Ernst Wanke Road, Berwick.
The car was eventually stopped by police at the corner of Glasscocks Road and Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne North about 1.10am.
The men were arrested at the scene.
The alleged driver, a 19-year-old Berwick man, remains in custody and is expected to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court this morning.
A 21-year-old Berwick man and a 15-year-old girl have both been charged with theft of motor vehicle and bailed to appear a court at a later date.
The 21-year-old man will appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 12 January 2017.
