Shots fired at brothel in Caulfield South
UP to six shots from a high-powered rifle were sprayed into the walls of a brothel in Melbourne overnight.
A BROTHEL near an under-attack strip club has been targeted in a shooting in southeastern Melbourne overnight.
Up to six shots were fired at the Club 859 brothel, in Glen Huntly Rd, Caulfield South, just after 3am.
It is believed the shooting occurred shortly after the venue closed.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said no one was injured.
A high-powered rifle was used, police at the scene said.
The shots hit the brothel’s walls and door with police setting up a
crime scene that stretched down the street past a gym and plumbing
store.
Another bullet hit the glass panelling of a tram stop shelter, leaving
it with a clear bullet hole.
The glass then shattered about two hours after the attack.
Neighbour Andrea Naphegyi was woken by the sound of six gunshots.
She said residents were “pretty scared” after the shooting and the
firebombing at the nearby strip club Kittens.
“I just heard the shots and rang the police,” she said.
“I feel a little bit scared. Caulfield South is a great area so for it
to happen here is a bit frightening.”
Police said there had been no arrests and the investigation was continuing.
The shooting comes six weeks after an explosion at Kittens strip club located just 750m from the brothel.
The anti-bikie Echo Taskforce believed the attack was linked to one bikie gang’s bid to dominate Melbourne’s security industry.
The explosion followed two shootings at Kittens’ other club in Cecil St, South Melbourne.
A crowd controller near the front door survived being shot in the face in January, while another bouncer was injured in a similar attack in November.
