A PROTECTIVE Services Officer has been shot multiple times with a gel bullet water gun while patrolling Highett train station overnight.

The 23-year-old alleged offender surrendered to police inside the lobby of an apartment building on Graham Rd just after 1am.

It’s understood the PSO was struck a number of times with the gel bullet water gun.

The officer was treated for minor injuries.

The Highett man has been charged with firearms offences, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and assault police and will appear in Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court later today.

A male and female are also assisting police with their inquiries.
