Police want to speak to man after elderly woman sexually assaulted in South Yarra

Police say a man believed to be in his 20s can help with their investigation after an elderly woman was followed into an elevator and sexually assaulted.

Melbourne police are searching for a man they say can help with their inquiries after an elderly woman was sexually assaulted.

The incident happened on Simmons St in South Yarra on April 1.

Police released images of the man they want to speak to on Wednesday morning.

Police say about 2pm a man waited for the elderly woman to enter a lift before he exposed himself to her.

“He then followed the woman to another floor and sexually assaulted her,” police say.

“The offender then fled the scene on foot.”

The man who police say can help with their inquiries is of Asian appearance, in his mid-20s and about 180cm tall.

The man has short shaved black hair, unkempt facial hair and was wearing a black Jordan hoodie, with black pants and sneakers.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers or make a confidential report.
