Police hunt man who randomly knocked woman off scooter in CBD

Police believe a woman knocked off an e-scooter in the CBD was randomly attacked, as police hunt the assailant.

Police are looking for a man who knocked a woman off an e-scooter causing her to lose consciousness last month.

The incident happened in the Melbourne CBD about 10am on Sunday, May 12.

Police believe the assailant said nothing to the woman before the attack, and carried on walking across the road in front of oncoming traffic.

He is described as caucasian, between 30 and 40 years old, medium build about 177cm tall, wearing a grey hoodie, dark pants and white shoes and was wearing a black cap with an orange logo.

The incident happened on King Street about 10.15am.

Police believe a 48-year-old woman was riding the scooter when she was assaulted and knocked off the scooter by the unknown man.

“He continued to cross the road in front of oncoming traffic. Bystanders stopped to assist the woman, who lost consciousness at the scene,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

On Tuesday police released a short, low resolution clip of the man they believe was responsible.

As well as the hoodie and black cap with an orange logo, the man was carrying a white plastic bag.
