Police claim Melbourne man was trafficking cocaine across city’s southeast
Police have seized cocaine, steroids and phones from an alleged drug trafficker’s home, whom authorities say was trafficking across Melbourne.
A man has been arrested after police allegedly found nearly $100,000 worth of cocaine at his east Melbourne home.
Police stormed the Kew house armed with various heavy duty pieces of equipment on Wednesday, before thoroughly searching the house and cars parked out the front.
During the search of the home on Campbell Street, detectives allege they found 275 grams of cocaine, worth about $96,000 on the street.
Police also seized steroids and mobile phones.
A 33-year-old man was handcuffed, arrested and marched to the waiting paddy wagon, later to be charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a drug of dependence.
He was granted bail in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and is due back in court in August.
Police released footage of the arrest and search on Saturday morning.
In court, police will allege the man was trafficking cocaine across Melbourne’s southeast.
Police also searched a home and storage unit in St Kilda, and an apartment in Port Melbourne.
In a statement released on Saturday, police said an investigation into the alleged trafficking began in January.
The Prahran Divisional Response Unit, with the Stonnington and Port Phillip Crime Investigation Units, the Family Violence Investigation Unit, uniform officers, and the Dog Squad were all involved in the search.
