Police chase in Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs
A DRAMATIC police chase through Melbourne’s southeast suburbs allegedly saw innocent drivers rammed this morning.
POLICE have arrested a man after a dramatic police chase through Melbourne’s southeast suburbs following the attempted theft of a cash machine from a car wash.
Victoria Police said they have a 23-year-old Garfield man in custody but are still hunting his accomplice who remains on the run.
Innocent drivers were allegedly rammed by the white Holden Barina, displaying stolen registration plates of UEE212, which was reportedly travelling on the wrong side of the road without headlights some time after 4am this morning.

The chase begun on Homestead Road in Berwick and spanned a number of suburbs in the area before the car was dumped on Anaconda Road in Narre Warren just before 6.30am.
Berwick Resident Scott Black told the Herald Sun he was filling up his car on Clyde Rd when the Barina flew around the corner and almost rolled.
“I could hear the police and the chopper and then all of a sudden I saw this little white Barina fly past,” he said.
“They looked like they had a death wish, they weren’t stopping for no one, it didn’t matter who was in their way.”
Mr Black said had someone tried to exit the service station they would have been a “goner”.
Chris, an excavator, told 3AW he tried to stop the white Barina by ramming it with his Toyota Hilux ute.
He said he was getting his morning coffee just after 6am when he spotted the pursuit and decided to join in.
He managed to clip the back of the car on Mansfield Street, Narre Warren, but it spun around and took off towards the Princes Highway.
“I didn’t get it good enough. I couldn’t see where I was going to push it and I didn’t want to push him into someone’s lawn,” Chris said.
