Woman to be charged over alleged cyclist hit and run
A woman will be charged in relation to a hit and run on a cyclist who’s bike was dragged 100m down the road.
Police will charge a woman on summons over an alleged hit and run where a cyclist was struck by a car and his bike dragged for 100m down the road.
Robert Clarke, 59, was lucky to walk away with minor injuries from his early morning ride after a white Mitsubishi Lancer hit him on April 13 in the Melbourne suburb of Noble Park.
The incident was caught on another drivers’ dashcam with the car continuing to drive after striking the cyclist, dragging his bike 100m down the road.
A 40-year-old Dandenong woman handed herself into police in the wake of police releasing the vision.
She was released pending further investigations, however, police said on Wednesday she will be charged on summons with reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, intentionally cause injury, assault with a weapons, drive in a manner dangerous, fail to stop vehicle after an accident and fail to render assistance after an accident.
Police say they have located other CCTV footage of the incident which led to the charge.
On Monday, Mr Clarke revealed he walked away with soft tissue damage, an internal injury to the back of his rib cage and was unable to sit properly after the incident.
