Melbourne teen threatened in machete robbery in Caroline Springs
The group allegedly threatened him with a machete before stealing his phone and forcing him to make an electronic transfer of cash.
A young boy has allegedly been threatened with a machete by a group of teens.
The 15-year-old boy was allegedly approached by a group of males aged from 15 to 19 years old in Caroline Springs, in Melbourne’s north west about 6.35pm on Tuesday.
The group allegedly threatened him with a machete in parkland off The Avenue before stealing his phone and forcing him to make an electronic transfer of cash.
The incident was reported to police a short time later, about 7.20pm police found a group of young men fitting the description of the alleged attackers.
Police pulled up behind their VW Golf at a service station in the neighbouring suburb of Taylors Hill, when the driver allegedly reversed into the police vehicle in a failed escape attempt.
Four of the teens were arrested at the scene while one ran, being arrested a short time later in nearby Burnside on Inglewood Drive.
Police interviewed a boy, 15, three 18-year-olds from Harkness, Richmond and Kurunjang, and a 19-year-old from Kurunjang in relation to the incident.
The 19-year-old driver has been charged with evading police, damaging an emergency vehicle and unlicensed driving.
He was released on bail to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ court on Tuesday, March 24.
The other males have been released pending further investigations.
