A MAN wanted over an aggravated burglary has died at the end of a daylong siege in Melbourne’s southwest.
A MAN wanted over an aggravated burglary has died at the end of a daylong siege in Melbourne’s southwest.
Police are investigating after the 35-year-old man was found dead inside the property in Kookaburra Ave, Werribee, following the nine hour ordeal.
There was still a large police presence at the scene last night.
Emergency services, including specialist police officers, had been at the scene since 10.30am, with the street cordoned off.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said police had been at the property as part of an investigation into an aggravated burglary in Hoopers Crossing the night before.
“When police attended the Werribee property today, the man refused to let them enter,” the spokeswoman said.
The Critical Incident Response Team and the Special Operations Group attempted to negotiate with the man throughout the day.
The spokeswoman said police used “a number of nonlethal tactical options” but became concerned when the could no longer hear the man.
The Coroner was last night at the scene.
