Man in hospital after Brunswick East stabbing
UGLY confrontation at a Melbourne intersection ends with van driver and his passenger being violently assaulted and stabbed.
A MAN is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in a violent road rage attack in Brunswick East.
Police believe one car cut another off at the intersection of Nicholson St and Glenlyon Rd shortly after 7.30pm.
The occupants of the vehicle became aggressive towards the driver and passenger of the car that cut them off, and both cars pulled over on Glenlyon Rd where a man and woman got out of each car and confronted each other.
The male driver of the car that was cut off pulled out a knife and stabbed the other male driver, aged in his 40s, several times in the chest and leg.
He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The female passenger of the car that was cut off also assaulted the other female passenger.
She was not injured during the incident. The two offenders then got back in their car and drove off.
Police are hunting a man and a woman believed to be responsible for the stabbing.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the victim suffered stab wounds to his upper body and leg and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police believe a number of other drivers witnessed the incident and urge witnesses to contact police.
Investigators are also urging any motorists in the area to review any dashcam footage they may have and contact police if they have video that may be of assistance.
The offenders are both perceived to be Asian in appearance and were driving a small blue car.
