A man has died, another has been charged with murder and a woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after an incident at a Melbourne house.

A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following an incident in southeast Melbourne, that left another man dead and a woman fighting for her life.

Police suspect the three people were involved in a “physical altercation”.

The man who died is yet to be formally identified.

Police were called to the house on Brady Road, Bentleigh East, about 8pm on Saturday.

A man found with critical injuries died at the scene.

Police said a 20-year-old Bentleigh East man was arrested at the scene.

He has since been charged with murder and attempted murder.

He will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court later on Sunday.

“It’s believed a physical altercation took place between two males and a female,” police say in a statement.

The woman had life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined at this stage, but it is believed all parties are known to each other.”
