Man charged after alleged Facebook Marketplace carjacking in Melbourne

A Melbourne mum alleges she was violently assaulted while taking her car for a test drive with a potential buyer, according to police.

A man has been charged after a mother was allegedly attacked while trying to sell her car on Facebook marketplace.

Jess Kerr invited a man and woman to her home in the suburbs of Melbourne for an inspection of her station wagon.

Police will allege that a man and woman turned up for the inspection about 6pm on Saturday evening and the three jumped in the car to take it for a test drive around the streets of Kurunjang.

“I went for a drive with him around the street as you usually would,” she wrote in a Facebook post after the alleged incident.

Police will allege the man stopped the car, threatened and then assaulted Ms Kerr before pushing her out of the vehicle a few streets away.

Police will also allege that during this time, the man threatened Ms Kerr with a knife that he said could give her hepatitis C, as well as cutting her finger prior to speeding off in the car.

The black 2008 Holden SSV wagon with black plates reading CDH-527 was reported stolen and police began an investigation into the matter.

A 38-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were arrested at a Kalkallo property on Tuesday.

The man was charged with aggravated carjacking, robbery and threatening to inflict serious injury.

He is in custody and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The woman was charged with unrelated offences including theft, handling stolen goods and obtaining property by deception.

She was granted bail and will appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on August 9.
