A man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a home in an aggravated burglary while a young child was asleep inside.

Police were called to a Clifford St residence in Port Melbourne about 11.40pm on Sunday evening after reports of a man gaining access to a property while a man and child were sleeping.
Authorities will allege a 27-year-old man broke into the house via an unlocked front door and stole a mobile phone underneath a man’s pillow while he slept.
The intruder was discovered by the 13-year-old girl who raised the alarm and called police.
Shortly after calling the police, authorities were on the scene and arrested the man in the rear of the property.
No injuries were reported.
A 27-year-old Redbank man was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons for aggravated burglary and theft.
