JOHN Lindrea is a devious killer and not one to be trusted.

He is on the run, nobody knows where he is and police are conducting a manhunt.

But who is he and what exactly has he done?

He is notoriously violent and has been the mastermind behind a number of prison breaks.

He was part of a group that threw human faeces at a jury during the “trial from hell” and he managed to sneak mobile phones into his cell while he was behind bars.

He is also a double-murderer and was let out of prison on parole in February, despite his twisted past.

He broke his parole conditions last week — it has not been revealed exactly what he did — but as police revoked his parole, he disappeared and escaped their clutches yet again.

He is currently Victoria’s most wanted fugitive and has been on the run for almost a week, he was last seen on Good Friday in Warrnambool.

He had a GPS ankle bracelet which police believe he has cut off.

Lindrea had been serving a 20-year minimum jail term for killing Kaelene McDonald and Andrew Johns in 1992.

Ms McDonald was hosting a house-warming party in Kinglake when Lindrea gatecrashed and brandished a gun.

He shot Ms McDonald and Mr Johns, who was a guest at the party.

After the vicious killing, Lindrea was on remand in Pentridge Prison when he pulled off his first jail break.

He escaped and was on the run for two months before being captured.

He was later moved to Barwon Prison, where he got a reputation for his confrontations with prison guards

He then again started concocting a plan to escape the prison walls, recruiting notorious escapee Christopher Binse to help him. In 1995, the depraved duo escaped their cells and cut through a wire fence at a high security unit.

Just hours after the attempted escape the pair was found hiding under building materials.

More disturbing details about Lindrea came to light in 2000 after he was accused of bashing triple-killer Gregory Brazel in prison with four other hardened crims.

He faced County Court with Matthew Johnson, the killer of Carl Williams, Sean Sonnett, Stephen Wenitong and another man who remains nameless.

They caused such chaos in the courtroom and would not take proceedings seriously.

It was said they were jeopardising the court case because Brazel went against “prison code” to give evidence about the bashing.

The Herald Sun revealed that during court, the five criminals would start Mexican waves, sing the Collingwood song loudly and one even threw a bag of faeces at the jury.

Even when the criminals were sent out of the courtroom and were ordered to appear via videolink, they continued to go rogue.

The Herald Sun reported Johnson farted into the microphone and they mooned the video.

Lindrea gained attention during the trial because he strangely remained silent while the men beside him wreaked havoc.

They were all charged with contempt, except for Lindrea, and he was acquitted for allegedly bashing Brazel.

He continued to live behind bars for many years and he was back to his wicked ways in 2010 when he fooled officers and snuck a mobile phone into his cell at Loddon Prison.

Because of his cunning plan, the prison was nicknamed “Crazy John’s” after the mobile phone retail chain.

The Herald Sun reported Lindrea and five other prisoners were linked to three mobile phones and other accessories.

It was believed there was a security failure and the phones were snuck into the prison in emptied baked beans cans.

They had been bonded shut after being opened.

He was then transferred back to Barwon prison.

It is unknown why Lindrea was let out of jail on parole, but police believe him to be dangerous.

“He is a threat to the community purely by the convictions that he has and his propensity for violence,” Detective Superintendent Peter De Santo said.

He was spotted on Good Friday around midday and it is believed he is actively avoiding police.

Lindrea is currently on the run with his de factor partner Sally Roach, but police are not seeking to arrest her.

People are urged to look out for a white 2011 Hyundai iX35 the pair is believed to be travelling in and it has a registration of YTK 659.

While on parole it is believed Lindrea failed to adhere to his curfew, he is being hunted by the Fugitive Taskforce.

Anybody who sees Lindrea is advised not to approach him but people with information should contact triple-0 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
