Homicide squad investigates after man’s body found on Brunswick East street in Melbourne
A MAN has been found dead on a footpath in Melbourne this morning by a garbage collector.The body was discovered around 3am.
POLICE have confirmed a man found dead on a footpath in Melbourne by a garbage collector was shot.
The body was discovered about 3am in St Phillip Street, Brunswick East.
Addressing media at the scene, Detective Inspector Mick Hughes said the man who worked at a local business was attacked after closing his business about 12.40am.
Insp. Hughes confirmed a firearm had been used in what police believed was a targeted attack.
The murder continues the Victorian capital’s horror run with fatal shootings, with eight already in March.
A major crime scene has been established and Insp. Hughes said homicide detectives would continue their investigation over the coming days.
