Homicide investigates after woman’s body found in Geelong home
THE death of a woman in Geelong’s northern suburbs is being investigated by homicide detectives after her body was found in a house.
THE discovery of a woman’s body in Geelong’s northern suburbs is being treated as suspicious.
The homicide squad is being called in to investigate the grisly find of a woman’s body in a house in Robin Ave, Norlane, about noon on Monday.
The woman is believed to be aged in her 30s.
Shocked neighbours told the Geelong Advertiser that the woman lived quietly, and there had been no trouble at the home.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rod Lloyd said police had received a phone a phone call from a man who said that he had visited a woman at the home and he had found her deceased.
He said the man then left the premises and called the police.
Sen Sgt Lloyd said the way in which the woman was found and the surrounding circumstances meant they were treating it as suspicious.
“At this stage we’re not taking any chances and we’re keeping an open mind on the matter but there are indications that it may be suspicious,” he said.
“The homicide squad will be attending and they’ll conduct a further investigation.”
It’s believed the ambulance and police were called at 11.40am.
Norlane resident John Knell said the woman lived at the residence by herself and was always very friendly.
“She would always say ‘G’day’ as she walked past,” Mr Knell said.
Mr Knell said the woman had been very quiet and there had never been any commotion at the house.
He said the woman had a female friend who dropped by every week for a visit and someone would regularly come to mow the lawns.
“It all happened pretty quickly,” he said.
“We left at about 11.30am and came back an hour later to find all the police here — it’s very sad,” he said.
