A MAN is in custody after Bendigo teenager was allegedly stabbed to death in regional Victoria at the weekend.

Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton has confirmed on Monday morning homicide police had made an arrest after an 18-year-old man died in the Bendigo suburb of Ironbark on Saturday evening.

Earlier, family and friends the teenager, identified as aspiring rapper Hayden Coleman shared tributes and made appeals for justice after the teenager was allegedly attacked at a house party around 7.15pm on Saturday night.

Police confirmed homicide squad detectives attended the Energetic St address in the suburb of Ironbark, but are yet to provide an update on their investigation.

A reported police raid at a nearby address failed to yield any answers as the home was reportedly unoccupied.

On Facebook, friends of the teenager have reacted with anger. Bailey Jones, a friend of Hayden wrote in the early hours of Monday morning: “Where is he someone has to f***ing know!”

Shortly after the time of the alleged attack, another friend, Mark Mitchell, wrote “get up brother” accompanied by an emoji depicting tears.

“I hope they get the lowest scum person who has done this to a young man,” Geoff McCumber replied.

Along with anger, friends and family have expressed deep distress and sadness online, paying tribute to Hayden.

The young man’s sister, Manny Coleman, shared one of the aspiring musician’s tracks as she described “the phone call that ripped (her) apart”.

“I lost my brother and my best friend,” she wrote.

“His life was taken too soon, he had so many good things coming his way, nothing can ever replace the emptiness I am feeling.

The grieving sister said Hayden was “not only my blood he was truly my knight shinning armer (sic)”.

“We literally had what I thought was an unbreakable bond until some little feral took his life and every shred of hope I had with it,” she wrote.

“I will make Hayden proud ... I love you Hayden.”

Hayden’s family has started a Facebook page for friends to share photos of the murdered teenager.

“We need to love and cherish these photos for forever,” the page reads.

A large blood stain remained outside the address where Hayden was stabbed as homicide detectives remained on the scene on Sunday.

Residents of Energetic St told the Herald Sunthey had heard “loud noises and screaming” around the time of the alleged attack.

One neighbour said the area had a lot of crime and only last week a car was set alight in the street.

When police attended the address on Saturday night, Hayden was found with life threatening injuries.

He had received stabbing injuries to his upper body.

He was treated at the scene and given CPR but died before he could be transported to hospital, police said.

The investigation continues.
