Couple charged with murder following alleged fatal assault, house fire in Chadstone

A man and woman have been charged with murder following an alleged fatal assault, with police making a grisly discovery along a rail line.

A man and woman have both been charged with the murder of a man in Melbourne’s southeast.

A 36-year-old Chadstone woman and a 35-year-old Seaford man were both charged with one count of murder following an alleged fatal assault earlier this week.

It is alleged a man in his 40s was fatally assaulted at a property on Binalong Ave in Chadstone, sparking a search for the victim’s body.

There was also a suspicious fire at the same address on July 18.

A significant police search led to the discovery of a deceased man, who is yet to be identified, on Railway Pde in Chadstone on Friday afternoon.

Both the man and woman have been remanded in custody and will appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday.
