Constable stabbed in leg in suburban Melbourne, injuries not life-threatening
A Constable has been stabbed in Melbourne, attending an alleged false report on Tuesday afternoon.
A police officer has been stabbed in suburban Melbourne.
The male Constable was stabbed in the leg and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon in Melbourne’s southeast suburbs.
Police suspect they were called to the address by a false report. An 18-year-old who police suspect stabbed the Constable is yet to be charged.
In a statement a police spokesperson says officers were called to George Frederick Road in Cranbourne West about 4.30pm for a report of an aggravated burglary.
When officers arrived the Constable was confronted by a man in the driveway of the house, and was then stabbed in the leg, the spokesperson said.
Three other people were at the home at they were not injured. An 18-year-old Cranbourne West man was arrested and will be interviewed.
“At this early stage in the investigation, it’s alleged there was no aggravated burglary at the property.”
Police want anyone with information to come forward.
