CCTV released in Korey Kesici homicide investigation
Police have released more photos and videos as their investigation into a suspected “brutal” gangland hit that killed a young man continues.
Police have released CCTV footage of two men they believe were involved in what has been described as a “brutal” gangland hit in Melbourne’s north.
Korey Kesici, 22, left his family home on Bangalore Way, Mickleham, shortly after midnight on Thursday, May, 5 to speak to the occupant or occupants of a white BMW parked on the street.
Mr Kesici, who police said had ties to outlaw motorcycle groups and Middle Eastern organised crime gangs, was shot multiple times and died at the scene in what a senior Victoria Police officer described on Wednesday as a “brutal” and “graphic” killing.
“It was clearly a targeted, organised crime hit,” Detective Acting Superintendent Dean Thomas said on Thursday.
“Korey’s murder was brutal and displayed a significant level of violence.”
Police have released CCTV footage of a man near the Kesici residence and a man filling up a stolen red Holden Commodore ute with fake number plates at a petrol station, on the corner of Main St and Edgars Rd, in Thomastown in the hours before the alleged murder on Wednesday, May 4.
An hour later the same ute was seen driving in the direction of Mickleham in convoy with the white BMW, police say.
Superintendent Thomas said police believed both of the men were involved in Mr Kesici’s murder.
Shortly after the shooting, the white BMW was found alight on St Georges Boulevard in Mickleham, while on Friday, May 6, at about 7.30pm, the red ute was found alight in Beveridge.
Mr Kesici’s sister Jasmine, sitting alongside their father Ahmed, said her family had endured “so much pain”.
“I hear gunshots every time I close my eyes and the gut-wrenching screams of my mum,” Ms Kesici said.
Investigators would like to speak to anyone who recognises either of the two men.
