A man was left seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked by a machete-wielding 15-year-old in an armed robbery.
A teenager who allegedly attacked a man with a machete in an armed robbery in Melbourne’s southeast has been slapped with a string of charges.
Police allege a 39-year-old man walking down Barkly St in St Kilda was approached by a male and female about 9.15pm on Saturday who allegedly demanded the man hand over his car keys.
The male allegedly assaulted the 39-year-old with a machete before he and the female fled the scene empty-handed.
The 39-year-old St Albans man was taken to hospital and remained there with non-life-threatening injuries as of Tuesday morning.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested at Southern Cross Railway Station about 12.30pm on Monday.
He was charged with armed robbery, intentionally cause serious injury, assault with weapon and possess controlled weapon.
He was remanded in custody and is set to front a children’s court.
