Woman who impersonated Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis to stalk victims is a ‘pathological liar’, court hears
Lydia Abdelmalek pretended to be soap heart-throb Lincoln Lewis and British actor Danny Mac to stalk her victims over a period of four years.
A woman who impersonated a Home And Away star to lure in victims who she later stalked is a pathological liar who will not admit to her crimes, a court has heard.
Lydia Abdelmalek pretended to be soap heart-throb Lincoln Lewis and British actor Danny Mac to stalk her victims over a period of four years.
The 32-year-old was found guilty of six stalking charges and was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
She was released after appealing against her conviction, but her guilty verdict was upheld so she returned to jail in May.
Abdelmalek is now appealing against the length of her sentence.
Prosecutor Angela Moran called Abdelmalek a “pathological liar” as she appeared in Melbourne’s County Court via videolink, the Australian Associated Press reported.
“Anything that the appellant says should be taken with a great grain of salt because she is a serious liar,” Ms Moran told the court.
“She lived a lie throughout this offending, going deep into characters, deep into complexity.”
Ms Moran added that Abdelmalek refused to admit her crimes while speaking to psychologists.
Her defence barrister Timothy Sullivan said his client was “in denial”.
He added that she had diabetes and being away from her parents would be tough for her.
Abdelmalek’s victims are hoping she could face a longer sentence.
She will be sentenced on October 25.
