AN elderly woman continues to cling to life days after she was attacked while walking her dogs in suburban Melbourne.

Le Le, 77, was found in a driveway at St Albans on Thursday night with “serious head injuries” and taken to hospital in a critical condition.

She suffered brain injuries and was still fighting for life in Royal Melbourne Hospital late on Saturday night.

Detective Sen-Constable Scott Riley told Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday that, “due to the nature of the injuries, the victim is not expected to survive”.

Amy Tran, 30, accused of assaulting Ms Le faced the court on Saturday afternoon charged with intentionally causing serious injury.

The Herald Sun reported that she smiled as she walked into the courtroom and yawned as police revealed details of the alleged attack.

Sen-Constable Riley told the court Ms Tran made no admissions but had been captured in CCTV pacing the street.

She is due to reappear in court on Monday.
