Grandmother Shirley Kidd’s grandson faces court charged with her murder

The grandson of a Melbourne woman who was killed at her home has faced court charged with her murder.

The grandson of a Melbourne woman who was killed at her home has appeared in court dressed in a white police jumpsuit.

Hayden Kidd appeared via videolink in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.

The 20-year-old is accused of killing his grandmother Shirley Kidd outside her home on Egan Court at Darley on Saturday night.

The 67-year-old woman was found with critical injuries near the carport of the home, but died at the scene despite police rushing the property about 10.30pm.

During the brief administrative hearing, the court was told Hayden had post-traumatic stress disorder and was taking prescribed medication.

It was also the young man’s first time he was in custody, the court was told.

He kept his head down and held his hands in his lap during the brief hearing.

Mr Kidd will next appear in court in October.
