Darrien Fisher: Four men accused of violently assaulting Melbourne DJ

The four men accused of brutally bashing a Melbourne DJ who required lifesaving surgery have reappeared in court.

Four men accused of brutally attacking a popular Melbourne DJ outside a Toorak nightclub have reappeared in court.

Darrien Fisher, 23, narrowly survived after he was allegedly seriously assaulted outside Jacksons Hotel, where he performed a DJ set, in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Mr Fisher, from Footscray, was placed in ICU at The Alfred Hospital and required lifesaving surgery following the alleged attack in which his girlfriend, Sharni Conroy-Green, used her body as a shield to protect her boyfriend and was also struck.

Cleveland Momia, 23, Ayoub Abdulrahman, 19, Michael Nous, 19, and Mohamed Buram, 20, all from the suburb OF Dandenong, were charged with recklessly causing serious injury, affray and assault over the incident, while Mr Abdulrahman was also charged with committing an indictable offence while on bail.

Police allege the incident occurred about 3am on January 1 when Mr Fisher left Jacksons Hotel and found the four men leaning on the bonnet of his white Jeep Compass.

Police say Mr Fisher was struck repeatedly after he asked the men to move. He fell to the ground and was assaulted further, police allege.

Ms Conroy-Green, 20, laid over her boyfriend as he was kicked by the men across his head, back and groin, police allege.

Mr Fisher, who goes by the name DJ Dazz, had been playing a set at the Sounds of Africa event.

In the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday, magistrate Belinda Franjic allowed the four men an extension to “iron out the issues” prior to a committal case conference, which she scheduled for May 8.
