A driver who allegedly ran a red light and killed a beloved Melbourne grandfather wailed and said “I don’t want to be here” when her bail application was denied.

Alisha Jane Fagan appeared for a bail hearing from the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old was allegedly behind the wheel of a black Audi and ran a red light, fatally hitting grandfather Sedat Hassan, who was in another car at Sunshine West on June 9.

Alisha Jane Fagan, 22, is charged with dangerous driving causing death in connection to a crash which killed much loved grandfather Sedat Hassan in Sunshine West.

New details emerged in court about CCTV footage 13 minutes before the crash which police allege shows Ms Fagan getting into the driver’s seat of the Audi after a brief stop.

She faces eight charges including dangerous driving causing death, breaching bail conditions, drug and weapon possession.

Ms Fagan sobbed, blew kisses and made a heart shape with her hands to family members when her bid for bail was denied.

“I don’t want to be here,” Ms Fagan wailed when her bail app was refused.

“I want to be the person I wanted to be when I was younger,” she said.

Her father put his head in his hands when magistrate John Hardy rejected her application because he found she was an unacceptable risk to the community.

But he told the court if a bed could be found in a detox facility and residential rehabilitation to support Ms Fagan, he would reconsider granting her bail.

The “terrible incident” catapulted Ms Fagan’s case into a different league, Mr Hardy said.

“I can’t stay here, I need my family,” she said between sobs.

The woman rocked back and forth during much of the hearing and covered her face when the court was told Mr Hassan’s son tuned into the hearing.

The court was previously told Ms Fagan had been released on bail for unrelated matters six weeks before the crash.

She allegedly refused to tell investigators who else was in the Audi sedan following her arrest at the crash scene and gave a false name, the court was told.

Ms Fagan was also found with two Xanax tablets and a kitchen knife, according to police.

The case will return to court at a later date.
