A MELBOURNE man allegedly shot an associate in the head at close range after declaring “I want to kill everyone”.

Prosecutors allege Alexander John Semaan murdered Michael Bekhazi in December 2014 and then holed up for hours in his Brunswick bungalow with girlfriend, Megan Beljulji.

Beljulji and Semaan’s sister, Hanna Semaan, face charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Crown prosecutor Michele Williams QC said the women tried to get an eye witness to change his statement and then attempted to put police on a “false trail” after the crime scene was allegedly tampered with.

Ms Williams said a relative, the eye witness, saw Alexander Semaan with an ice pipe and gun in the bungalow shortly before the alleged killing.

He asked about it and Semaan replied: “I want to kill everyone”, she told the jury.

Ms Williams said Semaan took the gun into the backyard when Mr Bekhazi arrived later and pointed it at the back of his head before the witness asked: “What you doing?”

She told the court Semaan then heard a noise outside, a woman across the road, and he went to the gate, raising the gun in her direction before lowering it.

Mr Bekhazi was preparing to leave when Semaan pointed the gun at him for no reason, Ms Williams said.

“And without warning discharges a single round to his head,” she said.

“One shot, close range.”

Ms Williams said Semaan’s girlfriend, Beljulji, arrived later with his sister, and Beljulji went into the bungalow where Semaan was.

The court heard specialist police were called in and the pair allegedly refused to come out, surrendering some hours later.

Ms Williams said Semaan had concocted a story that an unknown robber or intruder killed Mr Bekhazi.

“That is a lie,” she told the jury.

Semaan has pleaded not guilty to murder, while his sister and Beljulji have pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The trial continues.
