A HEARTBREAKING call to triple-0 caused a mother accused of killing her three children to collapse in court.
The Melbourne mother, Akon Guode, allegedly murdered three of her seven children by driving into a lake and she may not have to appear in court today after she collapsed and sobbed uncontrollably.
Magistrate Carolene Gwynn will decide whether she must front her committal hearing on Thursday, after the accused murderer began wailing at the Melbourne Magistrates Court after hearing the triple-0 call from eyewitness Alexandra Colston-Ing.
Colston-Ing told the emergency operator she “saw them deliberately drive in there”.
“They had to fully mount the kerb, drive along a grass area,” Ms Colston-Ing said during the call. “I saw them just drive full bolt straight into the water.”
Ms Colston-Ing said it looked like there were people in the back seat and then became audibly hysterical when she realised there were children in the water.
Mother-of-seven Guode is accused of murdering her one-year-old son, Bol, and twins Hanger and her brother Madit, four, on April 8 last year.
She is also charged with attempting to murder her six-year-old daughter Alual, who survived after being pulled from Lake Gladman in Wyndham Vale.
Her barrister, Julian McMahon, said Guode shouldn’t have to front the hearing on Thursday.
“She is traumatised. I’m not a doctor, but she is probably in shock,” he told the court.
